Soaring Eagles
The Soaring Eagles are swimmers aged 5 to 18 that compete in a fun summer swim competition. Swimmers 6 and Under may swim 15 yards in three events; freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. 6 and Under swimmers may be asked by the coaching staff to "swim up" with the 7/8 age group in order to complete a relay team. Swimmers in the 7/8 and 9/10 age groups may compete in the events of one length each, or 25 yards of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and are eligible to swim in the medley and freestyle relay. Swimmers 11/12, 13/14 and 15 and Up may compete in the same events but swimming two lengths of the pool, or 50 yards.
Junior Eagles
The Junior Eagles is for any swimmer aged 3-7 that is unable to swim one length of the pool unassisted, 25 yards. These swimmers are given the opportunity to practice with their age group and are evaluated weekly on their ability to "graduate" into being eligible to swim at any of the dual swim meets. They are full fledged members of the team, and will receive a team t-shirt, a swim cap and are welcome to the end of season banquet where their efforts will be recognized along with their teammates.
The Soaring Eagles are a part of the Tarheel Swimming Association. The TSA was created in 1971 to “promote and encourage competitive and recreational summer swimming for Wake County youth.” Today it consists of over 90 swim clubs in the greater Wake County area. Clubs are placed in either the north or south division based upon geographic location within Wake County. The leagues and scheduling committee strives to group teams into further subdivisions with other teams of equal strength by using dual meet data from the previous season. Three meets will be within in our assigned division and the other three meets will be out of our division, adding some interesting competition. Swim meets follow TSA rules for swimming meet management, competition and judging.
